On Novermber 14, 2006 Clickbank added a "Tracking ID" feature to their account management system.
The promotion tracking enhancement allows affiliates to add an 8-character tracking code to Clickbank hoplinks:
http://AFFILIATE.PUBLISHER.hop.clickbank.net?tid=XXXXXXXX
The tracking code (which is "XXXXXXXX" in the example above) provides the ability for affiliates to accurately track and manage their marketing campaigns.
The tracking ID can be only 8 characters long (IDs longer than 8 characters will be truncated), containing alpha and numeric characters only. If your tracking ID contains other than alpha and numeric characters, your entire tracking code will be removed from the hoplink and will not show in the transaction report.
So, what are the benefits of this new feature for affiliates?
The benefits of this new feature are huge. For example, at last you can add a tracking code for each of your pay-per-click (PPC) keywords and know exactly which of your keywords convert to sales and which ones don't when promoting any Clickbank product.
You should also track any other of your affiliate marketing campaigns when promoting products from Clickbank's marketplace. For example, add different tracking codes when you promote a Clickbank product in your newsletters, blogs, articles, etc. This way you'll know exactly which are your most successful affiliate marketing campaigns.
Affiliates were waiting for a long time for addition of this new feature. And I'm so glad that Clickbank finally did it!
