Summary:
Some famous (and some not-so-famous) companies allow other people to make commissions by promoting the online sales of their products. National Geographic and WalMart are examples of some companies which do this.
Affiliate marketing is kind of like door-to-door sales. You get paid for helping the company sell their products. But since you don't have to invest your own valuable time for each and every sale, you have the potential to sell thousands of products a day rather than just a few. That can make you some serious cash.
As an affiliate marketer, someone else comes up with the product and advertises it to increase consumer awareness. They also do the shipping. All you have to do is provide a website and get your web address out there for people to click on and buy the products.
The Product:
Affiliate Marketers Handbook - an ebook teaching you how to make money doing affiliate marketing.
Pros:
This ebook has been "freshened up" recently. The 2006 edition is the third edition. That's important since internet marketing changes so rapidly.
This particular home study course is based on 8 steps, so it's simple.
The advertising sounds realistic, because it advertises that you'll spend a few hours a day working on this to make a good living. (As opposed to "just minutes a day" or "a half hour a day" as some Internet business opportunities advertise.)
The person who wrote the ebook is an affiliate marketer, himself, so he's used all of the techniques he's teaching you. This isn't just a bunch of theory.
Cons:
You're selling other people's products. So if you'd rather be personally involved in making the products or providing a service, this business isn't for you.
Affiliate marketing is competitive. There are probably thousands of other people out there who have websites selling the exact same products that you're trying to sell.
The ebook costs $167. That's more than many affiliate marketing guidebooks out there. On the other hand, if it works for you, then it will be more than worth the money.
